Who Am I?

Numismatically:

My blogger pen-name is Pockets O'Change.  I've been collecting coins and currency for nearly three decades (since the age of 4).  Collecting coins and currency has been a family legacy for my family and I since the mid-1800's.  What I have in my collection has been passed-on for 4 generations and will likely be passed on to my children; when I have them.  I may not be an expert in numismatics, but what I know comes from first-hand knowledge of coins that I've seen, handled and collected over the years.  Numismatics is less than a hobby to me; it is my passion, my stress relief and my fun.  The pleasure of adding numismatic pieces to my collection is much like the pleasure most people receive when they eat a home-cooked meal; it makes you warm and fuzzy. I consider myself to be one of the younger collectors around and I feel that this hobby is neglected by the younger generations, therefore, whether you are a new or seasoned collector, young or wise, I hope that my passion for this hobby inspires you.

Personally:
I'm in my late 20's and nearing the next check-box on the census forms.  I was born in the U.S. and lived in 5 different states then I moved overseas with my family and lived in Asia and Europe until I started university.  I'm currently waiting to sit for the bar exam and to hopefully become a successful lawyer in the future.  Although my career goals differ from those of my hobby, one thing holds true for both; passion. To me, it takes passion to collect something for so long as well as dedicating myself to the Socratic hardships endured in law school. I hope you see my passion and enjoy this blog, it means a lot to have people read and even criticize something that you write about, so thank you for visiting and reading my posts.

What Do I Collect?

Well, to be honest, I collect all coins and currency.  My collection tends to reflect what has been passed on from generation to generation as well as the places that I've lived and the people I've met on the way.  The majority of my coins and currency are American, Canadian, Western European, Southeast and East Asian.  The areas that need improvement are: South Asian, Middle Eastern, Eastern European, Balkan Area, and the African Continent.  Other areas include: gold and silver coins, and older/obsolete currency.   I hope to improve the areas where my collection is more sparse through acquisitions and donations.  If you would like to donate, please click the link to the "About Blog" page.

Numismatically Yours,
-Pockets O'Change
